New Balance’s first carbon fibre shoe is certainly an interesting one to test and run in. The full length carbon fibre plate gives you that forward rocking motion that noticeably promotes speed and a high cadence. On each step you can feel the thick FuelCell midsole working for you, together with the carbon plate, as both the plate and the cushioning on the outside edge of the rear of your foot propel you forward quickly to the springy area under the ball of your foot. So you get a roll into push off very quickly – while still feeling stable, due to the thick midsole. Highly, bouncy and propulsive, the TC (which stands for training and competition) also has a simple, breathable upper, nicely cushioned heel counter and supportive Achilles flare. They look groovy – the style along with the tech made us love these from the first outing.
