Signing up for a first triathlon can be as scary as it is exciting. There are lots of moving parts and it’s more complicated than just putting on a pair of running shoes. “Completing a triathlon is great fun, though, and hugely rewarding and many people find they can’t wait to sign up to their next race almost as soon as they cross the finish line,” says Alexandra Parren, personal trainer and content manager for triathlon brand Sundried Activewear (sundried.com). Alexandra says keeping your preparation simple by understanding the race format, doing the right training, and knowing what to expect will ensure you enjoy a successful first race.
