FOOTNOTES
LAURA MUIR
This summer, it was Laura Muir who won the first medal for Great Britain at the World Championships in Eugene, USA. She then went on to No.46 take gold in the 1,500m and bronze in the 800m at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, and then another gold in the European Championships in Munich. Along with last year’s silver at the Tokyo Olympics, it’s clear Laura is one of the world’s greatest female 1,500m runners
It wasn’t until 2011, when Laura was 18 and went to university, that she really started to train seriously as a runner. In fact, if she hadn’t gone to Glasgow University to study to be a vet, she may have never met her coach Andy Young, and her professional running career may not have happened.
