The SI Leeds Literary Prize for unpublished fiction by Black and Asian writers is open for entries. The biennial prize, which was created by Soroptimist International Leeds and run in association with Peepal Tree Press and Ilkley Literature Festival, offers £3,000 to the winner, plus a place on an Arvon course and manuscript assessment through The Literary Consultancy. The runner up will receive £1,250 and the third-placed writer, £750. In addition, non-placed shortlisted entrants may be offered writer development and networking opportunities.
The competition is for full manuscripts of unpublished fiction by any woman writer, published or unpublished, from any Black, Asian or mixed ethnic background. Send unpublished novels of any genre/short story collections no less than 30,000 words. In the case of short story collections, no more than 25% may have been previously published. Send manuscripts through the online submission system as doc, docx, rtf or pdf files. The writer’s name must not appear on the manuscript. Include a 500-word synopsis.
There is a £10 fee per entry, payable through the online submission system.
