Fledgling leisure carrier Canada Jetlines has revealed its first international destinations will be from Toronto/Pearson to Las Vegas and Melbourne Orlando International (Florida). Both are slated to start on January 19, 2023, though the airline stated that “operation of these flights are subject to final Federal Aviation Administration approval” – prior to these routes being announced, the Canadian carrier indicated this process was expected to be completed “before the end of the year”. The start-up had conducted its inaugural fare-paying rotation on September 22 (see Airliner World, November 2022 edition) using its sole Airbus A320-214, C-GCJL (c/n 4175); a second example of the type was poised to join Canada Jetlines in December.
US budget carrier Spirit Airlines has launched a pair of routes from San Antonio International in Texas. Daily links to Orlando International and Las Vegas kicked off on November 17, flown by its contingent of Airbus A320 Family aircraft. Jesus H Saenz, director of airports, San Antonio Airport System, said: “We're thrilled to have Orlando and Las Vegas as affordable travel options in and out of the top tourist destination in Texas.” In further positive news, the airline disclosed that it plans a further two links from San Antonio to Baltimore/Washington and Fort Lauderdale – both are slated to launch on March 8, 2023 as daily connections.
