work by the great James Stinton at the Royal Worcester factory where he worked from 1902 until he retired aged 81 in 1951 was in demand by other craftsmen as well as the public.
Particularly known for his gamebirds, he was an obvious choice to produce the porcelain mounts for this set of four silver menu holders by the Birmingham maker Sanders & Mackenzie in 1939.
