A large joined hanging of 18th century woven silk taffeta (detail below) features in the dedicated auction of textiles, antique costume and fashion to be held by Thierry de Maigret at Drouot in Paris on March 1.
Dating from c.1770-90 and thought to have been made in one of the silk workshops in Lyon (a city famous for its silk production at this time), it is of a type known as chinée à la branche.
