The Court of Appeals in London has upheld a decision that said adviser Simon de Pury was entitled to a $10m (£7.7m) fee on the strength of a handshake agreement, writes Roland Arkell.
Lord Justice Lewison dismissed the appeal at the Royal Courts of Justice on May 14.
Back in January 2018, the High Court had issued the judgment that de Pury can be awarded the $10m (plus costs and interest) after the Paul Gauguin painting, Nafea faa Ipoipo (When Will You Marry), was sold to the emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, in a $210m deal in 2014.
