A large collection of Rockingham porcelain will be on display at Wentworth Woodhouse next month ahead of its sale at auction. The Rowley collection, numbering 120 lots, was assembled by a collector hailing from Sprotborough, Doncaster, who now lives in Buckinghamshire.
Based in Swinton near Rotherham, the 19th century factory has enjoyed a long association with the huge stately home. In its latter years it operated under the patronage of the Earls Fitzwilliam, descendants of the Marquesses of Rockingham who built Wentworth Woodhouse.
A preview will be held on November 17, when the public can take along their own pieces of Rockingham for valuation by pre-booking one of 100 available places through Wentworth Woodhouse.
