Pioneers of the Oz gold rush

The distinctive Antipodean ‘botanical’ jewellery of the gold rush era is among the first to depict the native flora and fauna. It is of huge cultural significance to Australia and its mining heritage.

The Sydney firm of Hogarth, Erichsen & Co pioneered the style in the 1850s but its popularity encouraged a number of followers into the late Victorian period.
