Applied Arts Magazine November/December 2015 - Student Awards Vorige editie

English
6 Beoordelingen   •  English   •   Art & Photography (Art)
We close out the year with another exciting design, this time from Ottawa-based ad agency McMillan. For our Student Awards annual, the guest art directors crafted a clever play on a student notebook meets literary magazine — a study in contrasts with highlighted passages and doodles juxtaposed against clean lines and serif fonts. The concept is topped with an illustrated cover that references the dichotomous working styles of the young and the veteran designer.

You'll see both the new and the experienced in this issue's content, from a piece on non-traditional creative career options for emerging professionals to a profile on long-running animation house Guru Studio. There's also a beautifully penned profile of legendary graphic designer Neville Smith, curated by McMillan, in which the writer observes Smith's photographer/daughter Whitney capturing his portrait for the very first time. Insightful opinion from seasoned creative professionals and the shortlist for the Young AACE (Applied Arts Creative Excellence) and Student AACE Awards round out the more than 40 pages of editorial content, followed by nearly 100 pages of winning work by Canadian and international students in the Student Awards section.
