Chinese connection

Brodick Castle gardens contain many exotic plants and quite a few of these come from the Far East. Indeed western China is the home of some of our best known and head gardener Nigel Price has visited Kunming Botanic Gardens to learn from their expertise and to establish connections.

Now two Chinese botanists have joined him at Brodick Castle to glean from the Arran knowledge. They are Li Zhijian and Zhou Yuan who are both research associates in Kunming in Yunan and they will be working at Brodick Castle for the next few weeks. What do they find strange about Arran, we asked? It is the first time that they have seen the sea they both replied.
