FOR THE first time the men’s, women’s and young athletes’ short relays will be combined on the same day, having previously taken place over two, writes Martin Duff.
In contrast to the long-stage events, the distances used for the races have remained largely unchanged for many years: the men’s has been 5847m since 2001 and the women’s 4315m since 1999.
