Growing up, I was a massive rugby fan, playing from 10 years old, and becoming really good at it. My dad was my best friend and still is. We did everything together, watching and playing rugby at weekends then after I’d help him race pigeons. Yes, pigeon racing was a huge part of my childhood, up until I was 18 years old before other things in life took over.
I’m a mummy’s boy, like almost every Irish son. Mum is the most remarkable loving parent: gentle and kind, but she’d kill anyone who speaks badly of her children. Along with my sisters, we are a very close family.
