We get some advice from Sophie Rae, who has set up her own eco company
Bethan Miller
Founder of Ripple, Sophie Rae, started the ethical lifestyle and zero-waste store after leaving her job in magazine publishing. Having been inspired by David Attenborough’s Blue Planet II, she tells us how she got started.
Q. What led you to set up Ripple?
I stand for a kinder, greener planet. It’s pretty simple in its concept, but often seems a mighty task when humanity is so disconnected right now. Like many, I watched Blue Planet II in 2017 and was ashamed. When I looked at my daily habits, they were led by a common thread; convenience. Single-use plastics, toxic chemicals and man-made fibres had somehow worked their way into my home without me noticing. I was consuming mindlessly as I had been taught to. That realisation was all the fuel I needed to get Ripple offthe page and into real life.
