Walking in nature has many benefits. According to mental health charity Mind, it can help improve your mood and reduce feelings of stress, as well as supporting your physical health. But how about heading for a hike with a friend?
With friends, it’s common to meet up for a coffee or enjoy a meal together at a restaurant. Walking together somewhere beautiful, whether that’s a sprawling local park or the countryside, is a different way to connect. It offers the chance to deepen your friendship and do something special together. ‘The connection, relationship enhancements and physical health benefits of walking with friends are immense,’ says clinical psychologist Tara Quinn-Cirillo. She cites everything from improved connection to reducing isolation as reasons to make time for a stroll with a pal.
