Inspiration

Into the woods

MATT CHISNALL

This eye-catching new home is nestled on anaturally sloping site within an attractive wooded location in Farnham, Surrey. It is the result of an ambitious demolish-and-rebuild scheme to replace the existing building with something strikingly modern. Inspired by contemporary cube-shaped dwellings, the designers at BWP Architects developed an innovative take on this style. The team split up the expanses of crisp white render with timber elements to create the impression of a broken box. Strips of glazing emphasise this unique architectural effect, as well as allowing plenty of natural light to flood into the property’s interior.
