ARGYLL Bowling Club is hoping to bag some extra funds to provide bowls for all ages after being selected for the next round of the Tesco Bags of Help initiative.
The community funding scheme, a collaboration between the supermarket and environmental organisations Groundwork UK and greenspace scotland, grants sums of up to £4,000, raised from carrier bag sales, to local groups.
Three groups in every Tesco region are shortlisted to receive cash awards and shoppers can vote for who they think should take away the top grant by using a token given to them at the check-out when they shop. Argyll Bowling Club has made it on to the latest shortlist, with its project Bowls4All, which aims to promote bowls as a sport for all ages.
