MEMBERS at Southend took on the quirky challenge of playing with only four clubs, with some producing better scores than usual.
The competition, played last Saturday and initiated and sponsored by ex-captain Ken MacMillan, tested the skills of the players on the use of course management.
Excellent results were produced by several of the contestants, most notably Harry MacLean who used a putter, three wood, five iron and sand wedge to such good effect that he posted his best round of the year to win the competition.
