Producer Peter Fabiano talks us through Resident Evil 3 Remake

We kicked off by inviting him to describe the game, and the impact that modern technology had on the process of remaking it: “This upcoming release of Resident Evil 3 is a reimagining of the beloved original, built from the ground up on RE Engine, similar to the process for the recent Resident Evil 2. Fans have been very vocal in their desire for a new Resident Evil 3 experience, and this provided us with an opportunity to modernise a beloved fan favourite. “The first thing players will notice is the over-the-shoulder camera angle to create a more immersive, personal experience, versus what players would experience with the traditional fixed camera angle. For example, when a zombie grabs hold of Jill, players will get an up-close view of the attack and see Jill’s reaction. This camera angle also gives players more freedom and control of where they’re looking and aiming.”

Did Capcom’s modernising efforts have any impact on Nemesis? “Using RE Engine, developers also made dramatic updates to the petrifying Nemesis, making him an even more fearsome foe. Subtle changes have been made to the presentation of enemies and obstacles to make the game fresh for fans familiar with the original, and also to bring it up to date for modern systems.”
