For anyone who thinks of Glasgow multi-instrumentalist Chris Duncan as a leftfield artist, his fifth album may come as something of a shock. From its yacht rock-infused title track onwards, it’s clear Duncan is, for now at least, a purveyor of lush and unapologetically romantic orchestral pop that at times calls to mind 70s soft-rock singer-songwriters such as Gilbert O’Sullivan. That’s not meant as a criticism, because his songs, which deal with his love for his husband but also grief and death, have an emotional depth that repay careful listening.
