Can I refuse to have my copper phone line moved to digital?
Q Is there any legislation, disability related or otherwise, that protects me ahead of the looming copper cut-off in early 2027? I’m elderly and disabled and really want to retain my phone. I was hoping there might be a legal mechanism allowing me to do so.
Elizabeth Meekins
A That’s a great question. While there isn’t a law that specifically lets you refuse digital and stick with a copper landline, there are strong legal protections in place for vulnerable people.
