Happy New Year! As we look forward to another 12 months of exciting dance, this issue of Dancing Times investigates some of the names and themes that have been making the headlines. On page 29, dancer and choreographer Matthew Hawkins takes a typically individual look at the debate surrounding protests at recent dance performances in Edinburgh and London by the Batsheva companies from Israel, and in Talking Point Matthew Paluch gives his views on dance’s recent attempts at site-specific performance. Liam Scarlett, The Royal Ballet’s artist in residence, talks about his work with Zoë Anderson, and Gerald Dowler meets The Royal Danish Ballet star Thomas Lund in order to find out about his new position as director of The Royal Danish Ballet School in Copenhagen. Patricia Linton offers the second part of her A Focus On Style series, Paul Arrowsmith investigates the current popularity of narrative ballets, and we also hear the latest news from the annual dance exhibition MOVE IT 2013. Finally, we feature compelling photographs by Rick Guest depicting dancers of The Royal Ballet in advance of his exhibition in London.

Dancing Times

I think more contemporary dance reviews and dance artists from this discipline are missing. I love the magazine, it only seems to cover mainly ballet and ballroom. Beoordeeld op 15 augustus 2020
