The Olympics are now in full swing and if you’re already fed up with your favourite television programmes being moved, and every news bulletin being focussed on the event, don’t worry, your favourite magazine, Diesel Car, remains the same.
This month we focus on the new ’62’ plate change, including buying advice for getting the best deal from your local dealer. Haggle hard and learn all the tricks, and you’ll outsmart the salesman and get a great deal. We also take a look at the combined fuel economy figures and explore why the official figures are only just the start. Alright they give a basis for comparison between one car and another, but you’ll need to look a lot deeper to get more meaningful results that are relevant to your motoring.
This month, we get behind the wheel of the all-new Mercedes-Benz A-Class, as well as Skoda’s new small hatchback, the Rapid. Audi’s updated Q5 and its powerful brother, the SQ5, are given the first test treatment, along with the Fiat 500L, facelifted BMW X1 and Chevrolet Cruze Station Wagon. We also get to drive the Audi A6 allroad, Fiat Punto and Volvo V40 on UK shores for the first time.
We also pitch Audi’s A1 2.0 TDI up against the MINI Cooper SD in a hot hatch battle, and Peugeot’s 3008 HYbrid4 goes head to head with the Vauxhall Ampera for alternative fuel supremacy. Also tested is the Audi Q3 SE 2.0 TDI in two-wheel-drive guise, the BMW 640d M Sport Gran Coupé, Range Rover Sport Autobiography Sport, the facelifted Renault Megane GT Line dCi 130, and the final swansong for this generation SEAT Leon, the FR+ Supercopa.

diesel, green cars, electric mag

The UK’s leading magazine for diesel, green cars, electric, hybrids and alternative fuelled vehicles, full of advice on tech, mechanics, future plans. great photos inspiring reviews Beoordeeld op 21 augustus 2022

I like the way it has evolved over the years

I have been buying it in print and online since the early 2000s and I like that it always has focused on the economy end of motoring, or us cheapskates if you like. It has moved to covering hybrids and electric cars which is good, and hasn't forgotten its roots - diesels.

It's a friendly, down to early mag and Doctor Diesel is still the best bit.
