The March 2013 issue of Diesel Car has a '13' plate new registration special theme to it, but listen to the doom mongerers and they'll warn you off buying a car wearing that fateful plate. Whether you believe superstition or not, we examine the pros and cons of buying a new motor in this tougher times.
There's news of the new Renault Captur mini SUV, our cover car, and first details of the sexy looking Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class. We take a first look at Honda's Urban SUV concept, Infiniti Q50 and Volkswagen CrossBlue, together with an extra special MINI Clubman, named Bond Street. There's also a whole host of other news and views including the first information on Vauxhall's brand new 1.6-litre CDTi engine.
We drive Skoda's brand new Octavia and updated Toyota Verso, and test Mazda's 6, the Fiat Panda 4x4, Citroën C3 Picasso and all-new Volkswagen Golf on UK roads for the first time. Skoda's family sized Rapid is pitched up against the Kia cee'd, while BMW's 330d Touring faces the Mercedes-Benz C 350 CDI Estate. There's also tests of the Kia Sportage KX-4 2.0 CRDi and Toyota's Auris Icon 1.4 D-4D. In Eco Car, we take a first look at the Lexus IS 300h Hybrid, and drive Citroën's DS5 HYbrid4 in lower 91g/km CO2 guise.
The high price of diesel is a perennial problem, and we attempt to cut through all the misery to report on the state of the UK's oil refineries. There's a look at how the Volkswagen Golf has changed through the ages, and in Tuning News we report on the latest Land Rover Defender by Kahn Design. And as well as our regulars like Doctor Diesel, The Extra Mile, Legal i and our extensive Marketplace section, this month we give used car buying guide advice on the Jaguar X-Type 2.2 Diesel.

diesel, green cars, electric mag

The UK’s leading magazine for diesel, green cars, electric, hybrids and alternative fuelled vehicles, full of advice on tech, mechanics, future plans. great photos inspiring reviews Beoordeeld op 21 augustus 2022

I like the way it has evolved over the years

I have been buying it in print and online since the early 2000s and I like that it always has focused on the economy end of motoring, or us cheapskates if you like. It has moved to covering hybrids and electric cars which is good, and hasn't forgotten its roots - diesels.

It's a friendly, down to early mag and Doctor Diesel is still the best bit.
