We’ve finally seen the sun in the sky for more than ten minutes at a time, and this must mean that we’re coming up to the new registration plate change, where new cars will proudly wear the number ‘63’ this time around. We’ve got a packed issue and tell you where to find the cheapest prices for all of the top ten best selling diesel cars. Not only that, but we reveal the lowest depreciating new and used cars in our depreciation busters feature.

We’ve also driven a whole collection of the hottest and newest cars this month, fresh onto the market this summer. There’s the first test of Land Rover’s brilliant new Range Rover Sport, a first report on the Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid and we get behind the wheel of Suzuki’s brand new Qashqai squasher, the SX4 S-Cross. We’ve driven the facelifted BMW 5 Series, the super frugal Volkswagen Golf BlueMotion and the new cargo carrying Toyota Auris Touring Sports. Fiat’s 500L MPW seven-seater has also been given the DieselCar first test treatment, as well as Nissan’s new Note and Honda CR-V in two-wheel-drive, 1.6 i-DTEC guise. Finally, we’ve got behind the wheel of the Fiat 500L Trekking, Renault Captur, Nissan Leaf and Renault Scenic XMOD, all on UK roads. We’ve even spent a week driving Porsche’s monster Cayenne S Diesel, with its 377bhp 4.2-litre V8 turbodiesel engine.

BMW’s brand new 3 Series GT meets its arch rival the Audi A5 Sportback in this month’s twin test and we bring you full reports on our current long term fleet; the Audi A3, Kia Sorento, Mitsubishi Outlander, Peugeot RCZ, Renault Megane Sport Tourer, SEAT Leon FR and Skoda Rapid. In our packed used car section, there’s a buyer’s guide for the Mazda5 2.0 diesel.

diesel, green cars, electric mag

The UK’s leading magazine for diesel, green cars, electric, hybrids and alternative fuelled vehicles, full of advice on tech, mechanics, future plans. great photos inspiring reviews Beoordeeld op 21 augustus 2022

I like the way it has evolved over the years

I have been buying it in print and online since the early 2000s and I like that it always has focused on the economy end of motoring, or us cheapskates if you like. It has moved to covering hybrids and electric cars which is good, and hasn't forgotten its roots - diesels.

It's a friendly, down to early mag and Doctor Diesel is still the best bit.
