The front cover of the May issue of Diesel Car proudly shows one of the few cars that wasn’t at the Geneva motor show, the new Jaguar XE, and we have the first details on the exciting new compact executive car that’s going to take on the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and hopes to eat them both for breakfast. Only time will tell whether Jaguar’s aspirations will come true. In a jam packed issue, there’s all about the latest cars revealed at the Swiss exhibition, as well as news on the sporty BMW X4, the Peugeot 308 winning European car of the year and a whole host of other news and views.

We’ve been trying out the new BMW 4 Series Convertible and 2 Series Coupé, as well as the all-new Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and MINI’s Cooper D gets a firm thumbs up from the DieselCar testers. The facelifted Lexus CT 200h and updated Alfa Romeo Giulietta are driven too, and we test the Audi A3 Cabriolet on home soil for the first time. Nissan’s Qashqai meets its strongest adversary, the Kia Sportage, and we put the Range Rover Long wheelbase, Infiniti Q50, Mercedes-Benz A 180 CDI Eco, Peugeot 508 SW BlueHDi and Toyota Avensis Tourer through our stringent test regime.

A Kia pro_cee’d joins our long term test fleet, and we wave goodbye to the Peugeot RCZ and Skoda Rapid, as well as taking a look at the difficulties of fitting into today’s cars if you’re exceptionally tall or petite, and examine fracking to power our cars. Of course there’s all the stalwarts from within our pages, in the form of Doctor Diesel, The Extra Mile and Gadget Inspector, as well as the most comprehensive and up-to-date data pages in the business.

diesel, green cars, electric mag

The UK’s leading magazine for diesel, green cars, electric, hybrids and alternative fuelled vehicles, full of advice on tech, mechanics, future plans. great photos inspiring reviews Beoordeeld op 21 augustus 2022

I like the way it has evolved over the years

I have been buying it in print and online since the early 2000s and I like that it always has focused on the economy end of motoring, or us cheapskates if you like. It has moved to covering hybrids and electric cars which is good, and hasn't forgotten its roots - diesels.

It's a friendly, down to early mag and Doctor Diesel is still the best bit.
