We’ve got our hands on the first right-hand-drive example of what is undoubtedly one of the most talked about cars of this year, the Citroën C4 Cactus. You can read our verdict on the boldly different crossover vehicle, as we test it on UK tarmac for the first time. We’ve also been driving Toyota’s new Yaris, in both diesel and hybrid guises, and been off-road in Fiat’s new Panda Cross 4x4. We’ve put BMW’s X4 through its paces on UK roads, driven the updated Volkswagen Scirocco and enjoyed the silence of VW’s all-electric e-Golf.

We’ve got reactions to the news from Boris Johnson that he plans to introduce an extra diesel tax for entering central London, and tell you why you needn’t worry, as well as the first photos of the facelifted Porsche Cayenne. It’s a bumper month for reveals, with pictures of the new Kia Sorento and Hyundai i20, too. Honda’s Civic Tourer faces the UK’s best-selling estate car, the Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer – which one wins the cargo carrying conundrum.

This month’s special issue focuses on tuning and economy, and apart from a comprehensive question and answers section hosted by Doctor Diesel, we test a raft of the most economical cars on sale today. The Volkswagen Golf BlueMotion, Nissan Note 1.5 dCi, Vauxhall Insignia 2.0 CDTi 16v ecoFLEX, Skoda Octavia GreenLine III and SEAT Leon Ecomotive are all put through their paces, and we test the Mercedes-Benz S 300 Bluetec Hybrid, which is set to shake up the luxury car market. We also celebrate 25 years of Audi TDI power, looking at the past, present and what’s in store for the future, and examine what F1-style KERS can do for the family car.

There’s also all your favourite sections, including Doctor Diesel, The Extra Mile and Meals on Wheels, as well as whole rundown on our long-term test fleet. This month we welcome two new additions, a Ford Tourneo Connect and Volkswagen Sharan.

diesel, green cars, electric mag

The UK’s leading magazine for diesel, green cars, electric, hybrids and alternative fuelled vehicles, full of advice on tech, mechanics, future plans. great photos inspiring reviews Beoordeeld op 21 augustus 2022

I like the way it has evolved over the years

I have been buying it in print and online since the early 2000s and I like that it always has focused on the economy end of motoring, or us cheapskates if you like. It has moved to covering hybrids and electric cars which is good, and hasn't forgotten its roots - diesels.

It's a friendly, down to early mag and Doctor Diesel is still the best bit.
