FlyPast

October 2026 ENIGMA OF BRITISH AVIATION In FlyPast October 2026 we reflect on one of the enigmas of British aviation - the perhaps underrated de Havilland Sea Vixen. Indisputably British-looking, the Sea Vixen was utterly distinctive, or eccentric some might say, but was it as good as it looked? We examine the intriguing jet’s development and history, shine a light on some of its more memorable colour schemes, and profile a preserved example. NAVAL AVENGER Reviving a Grumman Avenger has been a 17-year odyssey for the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum. Paolo Giannico details a warbird’s return SHUTTLEWORTH SPECIAL Old Warden’s Summer Air Show delivered the type of high quality display the venue is renowned for. Tom Allett was there JAWS OF VICTORY The 1956 Suez Crisis proved to be an overwhelming military success followed by a crushing political defeat, as Steve Evans explains RADIAL POWER Sven van Roij dives into the immortal Harvard’s past, as the trainer’s unmistakable growl continues to reverberate in Dutch skies FABULOUS FARNBOROUGH Steeped in history as both a show and an airfield, Farnborough is justly legendary. We look back on the show’s history and report from its latest iteration Also, we bring you a bumper crop of warbird and historic aviation news – not least is the tantalising prospect of seeing a Mikoyan MiG-21 flying again in European skies. Plus, as we went to press, the world’s sole surviving Blackburn Beverley was being reassembled at Solway Aviation Museum. There’s also reports on first flights for prize-winning Catalinas and Mustangs. Much to look forward to!

FlyPast

Very good Beoordeeld op 05 februari 2026

Digital subscription for Flypast magazine

I have purchased the Flypast magazine for many years and generally as a hard copy. However, for the last couple of years l have subscribed annually to the digital version and now read on my iPad.
The magazine is great and I always find the content interesting and varied and never bored with the topics covered. Whilst previously enjoying the hard copy l am now a devoted digital subscriber and would recommend this version. On the downside you miss out on add ons such as calendars etc.
