With the soil warmer and days now that bit longer, now is a good time to plant up a strawberry bed. If you use a few varieties (early, mid- or late-season cropping) you’ll enjoy the maximum cropping period.
Prepare a well-drained bed in full sun. Make sure perennial weeds have been removed and rake in some general fertiliser.
Plant them 40cm apart and leave 60-70cm between rows. Plant onto ridges for drainage if your soil is heavy; this will help avoid rotting.
