The July 2018 issue of Golf Course Architecture features a course designed by Brian Curley which is the first completed course of the 10-course FLC Quang Binh project in Vietnam.

The Tee Box section opens with the new Royal Greens course, designed by Dave Sampson, which will become Saudi Arabia’s first European Tour event in early 2019, while GCA hears from Ashley Mead of Ogilvy, Clayton, Cocking & Mead (OCCM) about the renovation project at Yangtze Dunes in Shanghai, China.

GCA speaks to Riley Johns and Keith Rhebb about being appointed as the architects to restore the William Flynn design of the Rolling Green Golf Club in Springfield, Pennsylvania, and Christoph Stadler talks about the sustainability principles that drove the Golf Resort Oeschberghof project.

The issue includes opinion articles from Frank Giordano, who investigates the strange case of the golf architect whose name was taken off the Le National course, and Martin Sternberg of Capillary Concrete shares details about an initiative at the Ryder Cup promoting the transferral of knowledge and expertise in the golf industry.

Adam Lawrence asks golf course architects, including Tom Doak, Jeff Brauer and David Kidd, what makes a great par 5 design.

GCA also visits the reconstructed South course at Chuck Corica Park in Alameda, California by Rees Jones and Steve Weisser, as well as James Duncan’s renovation of Morocco’s Royal Golf Dar Es Salam’s Red course, and Bruno Steensels new creation, The National in Brussels, Belgium.

Tim Lobb argues that golf courses should designate their tees in a way that does not suggest that does not suggest that they are for either men or women.
