AS EARTHQUAKE HORROR HITS HOME PENNY LANCASTER ON FINDING A WAY TO HELP CHILDREN IN DESPERATE NEED
Writing exclusively for HELLO!, TV personality, campaigner, photographer and special constable Penny Lancaster (above) tells how she knew she had to find ways to help after watching scenes of devastation caused by February’s earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. As well as the destruction to homes and livelihoods, more than 50,000 people are known to have died and families have been torn apart, with children left in desperate need of help. Here Penny, who is married to Sir Rod Stewart, with whom she has sons Alastair, 17, and 12-year-old Aiden, tells us why she decided to support the charity Street Child, which helps millions of children around the world, whether through rapid response in emergency situations or through education programmes, and was one of the first international organisations to get aid to those in need.
