A Alison answers: Trying a new horse tests everyone’s confidence, especially when riding in front of the horse’s current owners. First, make sure you’re wearing comfortable, well-fitting clothes and give yourself plenty of time to arrive so you’re not in a rush. Taking a trusted friend with you can help, too, especially as you can chat on the way there, which will help you relax and take your mind off the nerves.
