We have our comprehensive guide to the best Christmas gift ideas to suit drummers of all levels and budgets, including all of the latest new products along with some classic favourites as well as some very special offers and discounts. On the subject of new gear, we have an exclusive first-look at the prototype pedal from Bullet and Kitch, the PB007. Packed with new innovations and unique design twists, the pedal launched to much acclaim at this year’s London Drum Show and gained a great many admirers in the process. Elsewhere in our review section, we spend some time with Yamaha’s latest e-kit, the DTX400k, which delivers Yamaha’s legendary sound and technology for a very affordable price tag. Remo give us a glimpse at their new Mondo Cajón, which includes a very neat system for delivering different sounds thanks to it’s ‘Texture Target’ system, while we also look at another innovative technological advance courtesy of Aquarian and their inHEAD trigger system.
Interviewed this issue, we have the mighty blast-master Derek Roddy, arguably one of the nicest drummer’s we’ve ever had the pleasure to meet, who tells us all about his approach to the high-octane playing he’s noted for along with his love of reptiles and his very public audition for Dream Theater. We also spend some time chatting to Will Kennedy about his re-joining The Yellowjackets after a ten-year hiatus as well as introducing the band’s new bass player, who for any jazz-fusion fans will be a very familiar name. We catch up with Jason Bonham as Black Country Communion’s third album is released as well as a very high-profile DVD of the 2007 show which saw him filling his father’s very big shoes with the legendary Led Zeppelin. Elsewhere we meet Jack Prince; a young drummer from Liverpool who has previously played with X-Factor starlet Dianna Vickers as well as The Lightening Seeds, and we get a quick final word from Rita Ora’s sticksman Dexter Hercules.
