Hello again folks, and as we enter the year 2024 with ever higher hopes and ever lower bank balances I thought it might be fun to use this issue’s editorial to ponder on the subject of money.

When I pop down to Tesco to do my shopping I tend to use the self-service tills, and I have been noticing of late that there’s always a big queue for people who want to pay by cash, while the card folk can swan right past them. I also read in the news that cash is making a big comeback. Did you know that coins and banknotes accounted for nearly a fifth of all UK transactions in 2022?
