CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND-UP
FEATHERSTONE ROVERS will have to cope without prolific try-scorer Connor Wynne -who claimed a hat-trick in their 88-10 Challenge Cup second-round win over Waterhead -for a spell after he copped a sixmatch suspension.
It follows a clash with Goole's Jeylan Hodgson, a former team-mate at Hull, during a pre-season game.
Wynne, who was sent off, admitted punching, while Hodgson, who was put on report, also received a sixmatch ban, in his case for biting.
Having joined Featherstone ahead of last season, Wynne notched 21 tries in 26 appearances, primarily from the left wing, alerting a number of Super League clubs, with Hull KR reportedly interested.
The 24-year-old penned a Featherstone deal for 2025 in November, with coach James Ford commenting: "It was great to see how much Connor grew as a player on and off the field.
"He finished the season as one of our best and most consistent performers, bringing everything you want from an outside back in spades.
"He’s powerful, agile and quick, with an ability to turn half chances into tries."
