You can get 1,000 nits of brightness by using Vivid
Modern Mac displays can go super-bright, but only when HDR content is involved. Fortunately, you can get 1,000 nits of brightness whenever you want by using an app called Vivid.
Vivid uses your Mac display’s HDR capabilities to push its brightness beyond its normal bounds. This is great for when you need to use a MacBook outside in bright sunshine, or if you want a better moviewatching experience, even if the content is not in HDR. It works using your standard brightness keys – except they go twice as bright. It also comes with extra features like customisable shortcuts and a setting that shuts off Vivid if your battery is low.
