Quick–fire questions & answers
CAN IPHONES AND IPADS ACCESS USB4 SSDS?
Yes, although they won’t achieve the same performance as an Apple silicon Mac. Expect base models to work at no more than 480Mbps, and Pro and Max at USB 3.2 Gen 2 of 10Mbps, giving read and write speeds of around 1GB/sec. An iPad Pro should be faster, though. iOS and iPadOS can only access a single volume on the drive, and that must be in APFS, HFS+, exFAT, FAT32 or FAT format.
