Although there are more than 10,000 apps available to support people suffering with mental health difficulties, they vary greatly in quality. Apple and Android users can download apps that offer support for those suffering with depression, solutions for people struggling to sleep, and even help with addictions. But recent research found some apps provide ‘nonexistent or inaccurate suicide crisis helpline phone numbers’, and in one study only a fraction of apps tested offered all six evidence-based suicide prevention strategies.
