“CHAOSPHERE
IS MY favourite MESHUGGAH album. It’s my go-to when I need to be geed-up. This song is so raw. I feel like this is Meshuggah’s self-titled [Slipknot album]. It’s that raw, angry energy. It sounds like everything’s cranked.
Life Is Peachy is the best KORN album. Anyone who says otherwise is wrong - it’s so sick. Like, the self-titled is really good, but I felt like they were still finding their groove. I actually got into them through Follow The Leader, so it took me a while to deep-dive and go back. I actually struggle to choose between Life Is Peachy and the self-titled Slipknot album, that’s how much I love it. I think BLOOD INCANTATION’sHidden History Of The Human Race is one of the most innovative death metal albums in the last five or six years at least. I think there’s something really special about this band - it’s one of the hardest death metal albums.
I came across CONJURER when [producer] Lewis Johns, who records all of our albums, sent us them to listen to. They opened for us in Birmingham and they were phenomenal - Gojira mixed with early Opeth. I think they’re doing something very different with a dormant genre. I got into the more underground, Deathwish kinda stuff from Hevy Fest 2012, and CONVERGE were on that line-up. What I liked about that is that because I discovered them so late, I had this whole, amazing discography to go through. I know it’s such a cliché to say Jane Doe is their best album but it just is; there’s a reason that backpatch is one everyone’s jackets. For me, Broken Vow is them at their gnarliest, and I just think it’s so influential to everything else that came out around that time.
