NUCLEAR BLAST
After igniting the underground with two albums of folk-tinged stoner/doom, Green Lung dared to dream bigger on album number three. Approached with the theatrical bombast of your average Marvel movie, This Heathen Land was an epic worthy of the big screen, weaving a lyrical narrative around British folklore and tales of the occult, while writing some of the catchiest doom-adjacent songs since Tobias Forge stuck a pope hat on and demanded everyone call him Papa. Between its galloping riffs, towering hooks and flamboyant keys, This Heathen Land made the rooms Green Lung previously packed seem impossibly small –the likes of Mountain Throne, Maxine (Witch Queen) and One For Sorrow suggested their own apotheosis into bona fide metal gods must surely be at hand.
