Forged as a new creative outlet for a restless mind, Delving exist deep down the krautrock rabbit hole. Mastermind Nick DiSalvo is the driving force behind stoner prog titans Elder, but that band’s adventurous mindset is allowed an even freer rein here. These languid, hypnotic psych jams are built from a nostalgic blend of modular synths, Gilmour-esque guitars and stubborn, semi-supine grooves, but Nick’s melodic sensibilities ensure that the meandering never becomes aimless. Moments of sublime, uplifting beauty like the bluesy Omnipresence and the featherweight electro-ripples of New Meridian contrast with freeform sprawls like Zodiak’s 14-minute cosmic slop. But really this is one singular, free-flowing trip that basks in its own liberated and mildly stoned glow. ■■■■■■■
