CROSS COUNTRY
Young Lochaber athletes were put to the test again last week as they took to the tracks of Leanachan Forest at Nevis Range for the Lochaber Primaries Cross Country Running Championships.
The rural schools once again put in impressive performances at this year’s competition. Spean Bridge were the clear winners of the overall team competition winning the Samuel and Partner’s Shield, with all of their team members finishing in the top 10. In second overall was Inverlochy Primary, with Caol Primary in third. Fastest time of the day was posted by Sorley Swabey, in 9 minutes 41 seconds, an improvement of 12 seconds on his winning time from last year. His Spean Bridge team mates, Ross Loughray and Duncan MacDonald came third and fourth respectively and were only denied a clean sweep of the boy’s podium by Ben Corner of Inverlochy, who repeated his silver medal performance.
