More than 90 youngsters signed up for summer fun in Oban by getting ready for high school. Baking buns, American football, shinty, helping out at the Hope project and lots more activities were packed into the ‘best two days of summer’ last week at Oban High School and at Atlantis Leisure Centre. The Summer Sensations programme, part of the government-funded Active Schools scheme, involved a number of organisations including Oban Youth Cafe. Young leaders from Oban High School were among volunteers who gave up their time to help run the activities organised to help primary pupils get ready for high school. Active Schools co-ordinator Nona Thomas said: ‘We say this is the best two days of summer. It’s always fun. ‘It’s a great way to get ready to move schools and make new friends.’ Active Schools works to help young people get more active, more off en outside of school hours.
