• A new tourism strategy aimed at increasing promotion and access to Gaelic has been launched. Cabinet Secretary for Culture, Tourism and External Affiairs Fiona Hyslop launched the Gaelic Tourism Strategy for Scotland 2018-2023 at The Scotch Whisky Experience in Edinburgh alongside Lord Thurso, chairman of VisitScotland, and Shona Niclllinnein, Ceannard, chief executive officer of Bòrd na Gàidhlig. The plan encourages boosting awareness and use of Gaelic in the tourism sector through increased engagement.
• Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA), has published its 2017/18 landlord report. The report gives details of ACHA’s performance in terms of quality and value of the service provided. Alastair MacGregor, chief executive, said: ‘There has been good performance and satisfaction levels during 2017/18. We have improved our performance for completing emergency repairs with operatives attending within 3.52 hours which puts us ahead of the Scottish average of 3.96 hours. Our satisfaction levels for tenants moving into ACHA homes remains high at 93.2 per cent.’
• Loganair, Scotland’s Airline, has introduced a discount fare for members of the armed forces, veterans and the armed forces community. The airline has teamed up with Poppyscotland and The Royal British Legion to offer The Armed Forces Fare which will give eligible passengers a 10 per cent reduction in their core ticket price.
