WINDS of up to 104mph were recorded on the Western Isles last week as Storm Barbara hit Scotland.
Comhairle nan Eilean Siar reported the severe winds at Scalpay Bridge in the Outer Hebrides on Christmas Eve, with gusts of 85mph following on Christmas Day.
Storm Barbara affected much of the Western Isles over the festive period, with ferry operator CalMac cancelling all services to Lewis, Harris and North Uist and much of the Western Isles last Friday (December 23).
