Equalities minister Christina Mckelvie has confirmed the government’s support of the Domestic Abuse and Forced Marriage helpline.
At a meeting with Scottish Women’s Aid staff, Ms Mckelvie praised the helpline for the support it gives to abuse victims and said: ‘We want anyone experiencing domestic abuse or feeling trapped in an unwanted marriage to have somewhere to turn to for help.’
To assist the helpline, Ms Mckelvie announced a grant of £1.7 million over the next two years that ‘will ensure more people are supported and protected and can access the emotional and practical support they need’.
