It’s January in Denver, and all of our lakes and ponds are frozen solid. We won’t be allowed back in open water until April, at the earliest. Covid protocols make finding a swimming pool tough. Different cities and counties have different rules. Recreation centers have different protocols than gyms. At its best, navigating these differences while trying to keep a consistent and meaningful swimming routine is a logistical nightmare. At its worst, it is nearly impossible to juggle.
