Patchwork and Quilting  |  September 2017
A bumper issue for you this month with a variety of projects. Our cover quilt, Floral Valleys combines a traditional offset Log Cabin block with delightful curved corners. But as September is a month where summer starts to fade we have a couple of autumn themed projects for you; Autumn Colours features stencilled leaves with piecing while Autumn Boho shows how you can showcase large-scale prints to great effect in this quick pieced quilt. The I Love Sushi tablemats are wonderfully stylish and evocative of Japanese cuisine while both the Harbour Side and Big Bear, Baby Bear Paw quilts feature traditional-style blocks. Finally with a nod to the oncoming festive season, we feature Scandi Star using Scandinavian-inspired fabrics.
Your reading material this issue features an absolutely wonderful story by Chris Hammacott as she starts a new venture in the Islands, Colours from the Croft. We take a look at some of the entries to the Jen Jones Challenge that is on display at the Welsh Quilt Centre this year. We also look at a recent art exhibition, Designing the Future by Giacomo Balla, for inspiration. Julia Gahagan tells us about her First and Last quilts and we find out more about Tryst Patchwork Group in Introducing... and finally something a little different; long-time and regular contributor, Betty Croke shows us how to design different quilts with just two or three blocks in Design Options.
