MINI MIRACLE
Teabag. It’s not a flattering description for any car, but in the case of this little blue Mini Traveller it was entirely appropriate. Vic Young bought it in 2012 and from his description it’s remarkable he could drag it onto a transporter. ‘It had broken its back – the crossmember under the seats had fallen out,’ he says. ‘Also, the floor was very rusty – it really was like a teabag – and the rear subframe had snapped in half.’ At this point, you may be wondering why any sane man would carry on. The exterior wood trim was rotten, the seats were decayed and the stitching had burst. Forget the trailer – Vic could have collected most of it with a vacuum cleaner. There were, however, two things in the Mini’s favour.
